Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
gitaq ("we", "us") operates gitaq.com. This policy explains what we collect when you visit, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
You can read the Bhagavad Gita on gitaq.com without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, address, or payment details. We do collect:
- Technical data — IP address and request headers, processed by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) to serve pages and block abuse. We use the country your IP resolves to in order to link you to your nearest Amazon store.
- Local storage — your theme (light/dark) preference is stored in your browser and never leaves your device. It is not a tracking cookie.
We do not run a display-advertising network on this site, and we do not set advertising cookies of our own.
Affiliate links
Some pages link to books on Amazon. gitaq is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon. If you buy through those links we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Such links are marked as sponsored.
Following one of these links takes you to Amazon, which may set its own cookies and identifiers to attribute the visit. That processing is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not this one. Nothing is shared with Amazon unless you click the link.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. gitaq does not set cookies for advertising or analytics. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies to keep the site secure and available. Amazon may set cookies once you follow an affiliate link, as described above.
Your choices
- Cookies — block or delete them in your browser settings. The site will still work.
- Affiliate links — simply don't click them. Nothing on the site depends on it.
If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR)
Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and available, and in funding it through affiliate links. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@gitaq.com.
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share your personal information. You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, and to correct it — email privacy@gitaq.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and security
Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and abuse prevention. We serve all pages over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International transfers
Our providers may process data on servers outside your country, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
About the content
The Sanskrit text, transliteration, word-by-word meaning and classical commentary come from a public-domain edition. Explanations, reflections, FAQs and study notes are generated with AI and reviewed for structure, not verified line by line by a scholar. Treat them as a study aid alongside the Sanskrit, not as authoritative commentary.
Third parties
This policy covers gitaq.com only. Links to other sites — including Amazon — are governed by their own privacy policies.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
